Musculoskeletal injury can result from motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), falls, illness, disease, repetitive strain, overexertion, poor posture, environmental factors, and age. Occupational therapy focuses on assisting clients with regaining their ability to perform daily occupations, despite physical limitations resulting from an injury or illness. Following occupational therapy assessment, intervention may include education, ergonomics, physical exercise programs, adaptive equipment, activity and/or environmental modification, psychosocial support, pain management, and vocational support.
