Cognitive Rehabilitation and Concussion Management
Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) frequently result from MVAs, falls, and sports, with concussions being the most common. Occupational therapy will complete a standardized assessment to evaluate the impact of a TBI on a client's cognitive abilities - including memory, attention, reasoning, language, perception, processing, and visuospatial awareness - and on daily functioning. The results guide the establishment of an individualized cognitive rehabilitation or concussion management program incorporating both remedial and compensatory strategies for management. Concurrent interprofessional collaboration is an essential piece throughout the entirely of this program.
